In anticipation of Kosovo proclaiming independence very soon, the international community is weighting consequences and deliberating possible actions. Dr. Ognyan Minchev has published a new paper on ‛Europe and the Western Balkans: The Day After Kosovo’s Independence‛, focusing on the underlying causes of instability in the Balkans’ states and societies and outlining the critical regional and international ramifications of Kosovo’s independence. The paper also contains a set of recommendations for the EU – which eventually bears the brunt for the Balkans - for strategic action in the region.
